Pros
Great work culture and work/life balance. Since most users are kids, it felt like we were all unifying to create a great product for kids / teens and we are all inspired by play. The first few years, there was low bureaucracy and less hoops to jump through.
Cons
Company is a bit ignorant about DEI, and the gender ratio isn't great. Company also tends to leave its employees to self-organize, like with ERGs for example. It sounds fine on the surface, but then it shows that leadership doesn't want to support employees in those ways. The biggest con is that Roblox seems to participate in a very sneaky way of letting employees go. I was part of a wave of designers that "voluntarily" left the company. A few months after a promotion, leadership gave feedback that I wasn't performing at that level. The leveling requirements were brand new, and some of them contradicted with the type of projects I was getting assigned. They would not de-level me or help me transfer to a different team. Even after meeting leveling requirements, they still we're satisfied. I felt very unvalued, especially since I had been loyal to this company for over 4 years. I don't recommend working on the design team at this company.
