Pros
I cannot say all is bad here, I did work for RH for three years. Regular treats and fancy events, but really this is just about making people want the good life - if they want nice things & to go to nice restaurants etc then they need to earn some cash!! There is something odd with RH in that they make you feel like you a part of a family and create that SME feeling within the branches. Good opportunities to progress your career.
Cons
I worked as sales support in one of the offices and you work just as long hours as the consultants you support. Consultants and management appear to have a negative attitude to the sales support staff "you dont make money, so therefore i can be rude to you" approach, until they want some specific admin support & then they are nice! If you join in a sales support function, be prepared to be the invisible man and get very little thanks from your colleagues. Sales support managers are very good and are aware of the attitude of consultants, so they do try to give you a pat on the back to keep you happy. Main issue for me is that you have no personal life at RH, not just because you are there all hours of the day, but also because everyone wants to know the intricacies of your personal life. Also there is a seedy side to RH, boys club mentality & you are encouraged to have love interests/flings at work, not just by consultants but also by management - totally unprofessional and just creates gossip about who slept with who at the last event! Also some offices take the Friday Drinks Trolley to a whole different level! downing pints at 4pm on a Friday afternoon is not professional - this is workplace not a bar!
