Pros
- The captioning crew were all wonderful, creative people who cared about the job and wanted to make a good product for the viewers - Sometimes you get to caption interesting TV
Cons
- Big management shake-ups every few years left things very unstable - A shift towards automation means there’s less of a future in the job - Huge push over the years away from creating quality captions for the Deaf community and more towards creating the quickest, cheapest product for the networks - Most of the shows your caption are god awful - Very little recognition if you do a good job - you just get saddled with harder/faster turnaround work if you show that you’re competent
