Pros

Nice to get free lunch Monday-Thursday. Biggest pro about working at Realty Mogul is leaving.

Cons

Let's state the obvious: the 5 and 4 star reviews here are fake. I've never heard anyone at Realty Mogul describe the company as "cool" CEO is inexperienced, unprofessional, and immature. A textbook example of why founders don't make good CEOs. Like the other reviews on here, I have witnessed her berate people in public. Meanwhile the COO gossips about other employees to me, which makes me wonder if she gossips about me to other employees. Completely inappropriate and unprofessional. She is also unpredictable so it's hard to tell if you are on her good side or bad side in any given week. Turn-over at Realty Mogul is really high. The company hires for the same position 3-4 times per year because employees are constantly leaving. No one knows how anything works since the veterans have already bailed and the new employees are gone before even learning how to do their jobs. Realty Mogul provides lunch on Monday-Thursday, just like every other startup in LA. The company contributes $200 towards your health insurance, but lots of startups contribute $400-$600. Last year Realty Mogul gave employees 10 holidays but this year give only 9 (took away Veterans Day as a holiday). Yes, we did notice. The culture is terrible. During the performance reviews, it is mandatory that each person must review a coworker. One question that each person is forced to answer is "If you were the manager, would you hire your coworker again?" Think about that for a second... why would a company pit its employees against each other? What type of culture do you think that creates? The management likes to describe Realty Mogul as "innovative" and "transformative". They think that Realty Mogul is the next best thing since sliced bread, but really all its doing is making loans to rich people. Not that big a deal, folks.

Pros

Great company! The CEO genuinely cares about making sure employees feel connected to and excited about the mission. There was a lot of care put into the onboarding process to make sure I was set up for success. The head of marketing is one of the best leaders I’ve ever worked for - focused, kind and supportive at all times. Work life balance is encouraged and respected. I had a great experience at this company.

Cons

One of the challenges on the marketing side of things is that everything is run through legal to make sure you are in compliance, since technically you are selling financial products. This isn’t a bad thing, it just wasn’t something I was used to coming from other companies that weren’t selling financial products. Once you get used to it it’s easy, and if you ever have any questions, everybody there is so helpful.

Pros

Strong corporate values and culture that prioritizes honesty, integrity and recognizes individual contributions. Fully remote structure allows for a well balanced personal life. Large amount of responsibility given to each position due to the smaller size of the firm. You will be able to make an impact if you desire.

Cons

Fully remote structure may not be for everyone, it makes onboarding difficult if you are an inexperienced or junior candidate. Crowdfunding real estate industry is very sensitive to macroeconomic trends, and therefore there can be large swings in deal flow, profitability, bonus potentials and team structures. This is not necessarily the fault of the company, just the space that they are in and their investor base.
