Pros

The pro as a technician at this company is basically the travel to big sporting events or overseas. You'll sometime work long hours and when you're sent there, it's basically sink or swim because there no one to guide you so you'll have to figure out everything yourself and be able to talk to people. The company was doing great when we had ESPN as a client because most of the rentals and support calls were from them (24x7). If you take the time to talk to your fellow co worker then you'll make some new friends, go to lunch together and also have a good time at work. We use to have entertainment in the office like Xbox, pool table and etc but when we got a new manager, it was taken away. If you had to take a long support call then management will work with you by giving you a day off or letting you leave early. They also had unlimited snacks and sometime drinks here as well. The holiday party was amazing and they go all out like cruise ship, luxury restaurants and etc but after they lost ESPN as a client, it really went downhill . Some days can be slow so if there no tickets for you then you just have to keep yourself busy but productive.

Cons

We had some racial issue at the company but management took care of that. The room for growth here and getting a raise is very slow or non existent. If you're salary then you won't get paid for any OT work so some days on site you might be working an 18 hour work day. Managers at different department can vary but in the engineering department sometime it's micro managing or based on the person mood that day. We lost many tech because they clash with the manager and just couldn't take it anymore. You cannot go by words alone here so if they are going to promise you or tell you something, make sure you have it in writing because that will save you in the future. The software they used here (Vizrt) is really only used in the broadcasting industry and there not a lot of companies that use it. Parking here can be difficult because it's a small lot and doesn't have a lot of spaces for cars, so sometime you might have to park on a pack street.

Pros

Very talented group of professionals with a vast knowledge of the broadcast industry specific to sports graphics. Awesome opportunity to learn from the best and learn new technologies almost before they come to the vast market.

Cons

No training department, sink or swim environment. Probably fairly common when it comes to the technology field.

Pros

Casual environment with free snacks and coffee. Variety of "big name" clients to work with. Awesome people to work with. You get to travel, which can sometimes be a bad thing. Occasional catered lunches and BBQ's. Decent health benefits.

Cons

If you are looking to grow your career, stay far away. Anything you do at this company is specific to TV broadcasting only. There isn't much you can learn here to take with you on your career. You will basically be doing a subset of VBScript that is very limited and only applies to the Viz graphics engine. There is no formal training for this. Don't let management fool you and fill your head when they say you should be "privileged" to be able to work with these big name clients. As a software engineer, other jobs could care less what clients you worked for. They want to know what work you actually did for them. Which, for this company, will more than likely not apply elsewhere. Save yourself the time and find a job that will teach you real world skills. Any other skills you can learn here, you will have to teach yourself.
