I felt as though career development was lacking. Although I was given the chance to assume some basic level of leadership of my team, it felt like more of a fauxmotion than a promotion, aimed at trying to keep me by distracting me from what I had really expressed interest in, than a genuine advancement, as there was no real increase in ownership and the level my position created seemed extraneous. I appreciate the recognition that probably underlay the move. However, several experiences led me to feel as though I was being blocked from exploring opportunities outside of my department in spite of my extensive background in other areas.
