Pros

Very open and "start up" environment. The team truly works as a team. You see individuals interacts with each other throughout the day. People are willing to help each other aiming at the common goal - complete the sprint or the project on time with high quality! People on the tech team are very smart, some are brilliant. The leadership here is also very strong. I never felt lost in a project. Our VP has built and sold start up company himself. The tools provided to developers are top-notch. The Atlassian suite was implemented last year and had a hug impact to the productivity to the team. Management has been very open to new technologies and new ways of doing things.

Cons

the company isn't a start up, although for certain areas in the firm it still has the start up feel. You won't get company stocks just by being there. You have to work hard to get it, in form of stock options. I believe 2 years of working full time will make you eligible. Then your performance will have to be really good. This is a small shop with a linear product line.

Pros

Interesting work, very supportive of internal learning and growth, respectful of work life balance

Cons

Subjective con- Since covid so not much in person interaction but this could also be a pro. Cameras on zoom culture so that can also be a pro or con.

Pros

- High pay - Nice office - Fruits/snacks in the office - Fun company-wide events once a quarter - Some smart people

Cons

- Very top-down decision making: often over-complicates solving problems, results in unnecessary and immediately redundant work, causes lots of last-minute requirement changes and "I need ASAP" projects so folks are forced to work hard+stupid rather than intense+smart - Poor office culture (no place to chat, eat lunch, or hang out in the office) - Very traditional work-office culture: --- not coming in at a fixed time raises eyebrows --- seeming like you take too many work from home days counted against you (without explicit polices/good feedback) - Poor communication practices from management on engineering team (if they see a problem, they won't schedule a short, honest conversation, expectation is that you'll notice something's bad yourself). - Extremely male-dominated (especially engineering, analytics)
