Pros

Benefits- 401k, health care, PTO, paid Holiday time, Work/Life Balance Large company culture gives you an opportunity to make friends. Find people in your age group, with similar interests, etc.

Cons

There is a lot of competition for work with your peers. If you want to get the good assignments/programs that will allow you to grow in your career, then you need to fight for them. Your experience can vary greatly simply by what department you are working for, who you have as a manager, and the time you get hired on. For instance, if you get hired during a busy season and have a great manager who is looking out for you, then you may do well. But if you get hired during a slow season, and your manager doesn't have time to bother with you, then you may get the short end of the stick regarding projects. This also depends on your own personality. If you are highly competitive then you will probably prosper, but if you are more laid back or shy & introverted then you may struggle. This company has a lot of politics. And it feels as though higher management makes decisions without any regards as to how they affect those below them. Out of everything, I'd say poor management was the #1 reason I left the company.

Pros

I worked at Raytheon for over 4 years and had a great experience. The company provided many learning and growth opportunities. I was promoted twice during my tenure with the company, and my responsibility increased significantly. I felt like my management supported me and provided me with the career mentorship that I was seeking. I felt empowered and respected during my time there.

Cons

It can be difficult to work at such a large defense contractor company because of all the process and red tape. Things can move slowly, you have to be patient and pick your battles. That being said, if you learn how to work within the system, you can make a significant impact here!
