Pros
For me personally, the career growth opportunities have been plentiful and each step has happened in a timely manner. I've held six different positions at ROI Revolution, and all of them have been a step up from the previous role in responsibility, seniority, and pay. Great coworkers who are extremely intelligent but also fun to be around make coming to work something to look forward to. The office is casual and relaxed. After an initial training period, the work is fast paced, time sensitive, and very involved, so having a positive, relaxed working environment is definitely a plus. Also, everyone is willing to help each other out. We're extremely competitive around here, but no one is too busy to help you brainstorm, problem solve, or just let you brag or vent in general. There is an extremely bright group of people dedicated to creating custom software and tools to help us make the tough work go as efficiently as possible. Almost any tool you could think up, they can make. It's amazing. There is a fully stocked break room accessible to all employees all the time. Basically, any type of food or drink you could want is in there, and if it's not, just request it, and you'll probably see it the next day. We also have Happy Hour every Friday afternoon at the office with drinks provided from the kegerator that offers seasonal beers on tap as well as a wine fridge with red, white, and champagne. Depending on the position, there is a good amount of travel, but not so much that you start to dread it. I average about 10 out of state trips per year. Most of the travel I've done in the last ten years has been because of my job. It's nice, because we have the opportunity to extend our stay for personal time, while the flights are covered by the company. Upper management is very accessible to everyone on staff. If you have questions or need to have a conversation with the CEO or any of the Directors, they're very willing to carve out some time in their calendars to chat.
Cons
Most of the staff are in their mid to late twenties. Just recently, there has been an uptick in more marriages and some pregnancies. Until recently, the company didn't really need to focus on being family friendly with its policies. It would be nice if there were less rigid time and attendance policies for everyone, especially people who have children. I do feel like upper management will realize in the next couple of years that the need for flexible schedules will increase as more people start families and will address it in a fair way. The accounts that we manage are always spending money online, regardless of the day of week or time of day, so it can get stressful to know that something could go wrong at any time. There are many checks and balances in place to alert us if there's a problem. That way, we don't have to worry 24/7. However, it is hard to disconnect. The office decor is not very edgy or current considering we're a top tier ecommerce marketing agency, but we try to combat that by personalizing our own spaces however we want.
