Pros
Great hours, you work by yourself for the most part, you are a mobile technician (not behind a desk), you meet new people, company van, maintenance and gas card. You are given tools to get work done and the company is willing to provide some tools you need. There are tenure awards, various allowances, decent benefits, and opportunity for advancement.
Cons
PTO only (no sick days, personal days, etc) very few holidays off. The amount of responsibilities that is on the field service technician (FST)can become unreasonable. Things are always changing and adapting in the company to hold the FST liable to remember and prioritize a variety of materials, inventory, customer needs, time accommodations, drive time, communication, and documentation. Whenever anything goes wrong in the chain of command it becomes the technicians fault. You must have thick skin and be able to perform under pressure.
