Pros

Discount on products and services. When not stressed out most of the employees are fun, good people to work with.

Cons

Where do I start? Owner is crazy and fires on a whim. She also can do hair, extensions, color and knows it all because she was a nail tech and estatician 20+ years ago! You don't get 15 min. breaks in your 10 hour day. Lunch breaks are moved or deleted and you may get your 1/2 hour break 2 hours into your 10 hour day or 2 hours before your 10 hour day ends. Vacations? Ha, you don't have coverage you don't get your paid vacation. Break room- nice to be locked out of the break room or have all the chairs removed when someone else leaves a mess- or your lunch may be thrown away because after a 10.5 hour shift you forgot to take your left overs home. You have numbers to meet people,! You must sell, sell, sell product!!! Doesn't matter that your customers can get the products through auto ship on line!! Pre book- you must make your guests precook, if you don't you will be written up and fired!!All of your numbers go on a BIG board in the break room so people can see who is great and who will be "spoken" too. Fill your books! But, they don't advertise, maybe we should stand on the street out front and real the cars in! Earth month we don't get paid for working it or the meetings to set it up. If you don't participate-counts against at review time! Stay away! There are better places to work and attain a balanced work/home life.

Pros

This has been a great place for me for 10+ years. Everyone who works there gets along great with each other and is a great support system for both personal and professional issues. I have received countless hours of education and training for my career on their dime. If I have ever needed anything I always know I can go to management and they will help me in whatever ways they can. When my car was broken the owner drove out of her way to pick me up so that I could get to work! I know many others who she has gone out of her way to help, even providing housing for a struggling employee! and being a great support for coworkers who have battled cancer. I have been able to work part time for stretches when I need to take care of home issues and work full time when I've been ready to. The salon pays hourly instead of commission, which is different but I like it because I know what I'm bringing home each week and I can rely on that whether I am busy or not. I have never work at another place that holds such a great value for my wellbeing.

Cons

Being in a supportive place that also holds you accountable is not for everyone. Being catty and selfish doesn't fit in well here.
