Pros
Good Intellectual Resources: professors, libraries, expertise in the area of chemical engineering Helpful People: On the whole people are willing to take time to talk to you and help you out intellectually if you ask.
Cons
Current Funding Issues: The projects I was interested in (using algae for bio fuel production) were having some trouble getting funding and it is hard to get involved with a engineering project if you were not accepted as an engineer due to departmental barriers. Direction Provided: If you want direction you have to ask or provide it yourself.
