Extremely abusive environment mentally, verbally and physically. To report harrassment or abuse to management or HR is a sure way to be punished or terminated. Of course, never for those reasons on paper, but they will find a way. There are no protections, HR is NOT on your side. Your only option is to deal with the abuse until you have a nervous breakdown or leave for another department. If you report to HR or the Dean of Students, they will find a BS reason to get rid of you or bully you into leaving.
