Pros

Health insurance if they allow you to get enough hours, access to 401k and stock after 3 years.

Cons

Constant changing schedules, Oasis doesnt work a lot of the times (oasis is the computer system that allows you to check schedule from home) Managers often change your schedule the day before and are supposed to inform you but often times do not. Publix tends to be a who you know type company, you dont always get noticed for hard work. The deli is busy and often short staffed. We are never praised, only told when we did something wrong. Also you are expected to put away trucks, work the kitchen (frying chicken, food prep) make platters and wait on customers pretty much simultaneously sometimes. Also it is hard to go from part time to full time. Ive been waiting 5 years, though my boss often tells me I am the hardest working/most helpful employee in my department. They also want a completely open availability which is hard to work another job or go to school. The biggest flaw I think is the lack of education and training most managers have. Some dont even have high school diplomas and can barely spell and are in charge of an entire department. They need more training in management and better people skills. Im not saying all of them because there are some wonderful managers but its very hard to respect a manager with the reading comprehension of a 5th grader.

Pros

Amazing 401K, free stock after one year of employment, health insurance is very good for part-time employees if only getting it for yourself, management always approves time off requests, hours are always available, will work around school schedules, tuition reimbursement program, will reimburse you for gas for work-related expenses as needed and will put you in a hotel as needed for work-related reasons that are more than 50 miles from your home.

Cons

Not every store is the same, some stores are run better than others, some managers look down upon people with disabilities, and some see people with disabilities the same as someone without disabilities, they are very big about favoritism, you have to work a lot to earn a vacation, the company does not give out sick time and full-time gets the most benefits and is next to impossible to get full-time. Also, you practically have to be a former employee with a clean record or related in some way to a current employee to get a job with the company though Kentucky Publix's don't quite function that way.
