Pros
-Stock is great. 401k is excellent -Job security. Publix doesn't fire anyone, which sucks if employees are incompetent, but at least you'll never be laid off or fired for minor reasons -Hours are flexible, but not nearly as good since the implementation of OASIS
Cons
-Seniority and hard work does not pay off at all. I have been passed up for better positions by people who previously quit publix and decided to come off. It crushes your confidence and desire to continue working hard. -The politics is absurd. I know every company has it's political nonsense, but it really is all about who you know in this company. My store manager puts all of his friends on the "fast track," and it has really killed the morale in our store. It's pathetic and he refuses to take responsibility -The pay is okay if you're starting, but after seven years of employment the people who start now make almost as much as I do. The raises are poor and don't reflect upon the time put in with the company and are not in line with performance. The evaluations are biased and nobody in our territory makes more than the allotted $.50 per year, unless of course you know the store manager. -Management is lazy/incompetent. I have had the pleasure of working with some really fabulous managers who work hard and expect a lot out of their employees but will treat you fairly if you perform well. Unfortunately, those are very few and far between and are only becoming more scarce as the morale is dissipating with the unfair politics and favoritism. We are all very overworked and underpaid and not fairly treated. It's such a shame.
