Pros

Free protein snacks. Some very talented young staff who work incredibly hard. Free parking, decent office spaces and facilities.

Cons

Where do I start? And before anyone reads this thinks this is a review from a ‘bitter ex employee’, wrong. I left on my own terms for an improved package elsewhere due to reasons I shall now list. The aim here is to provide an honest review so that anyone considering a move there can make an informed decision. Every word here is the absolute truth. 1. False promises of salary increase following successful probation. Despite several internal promotions within my own function, recognising the changes implemented, it was rebuffed. 2. CMO has to have the final say on every little decision, there’s no autonomy and your skills and experience aren’t trusted. This despite the person not being involved in the department day to day. 3. There is ZERO flexibility. I, along with most of the adult population, have childcare commitments. There’s no consideration for when unplanned issues occur, WFH is strictly not an option even though the whole company does it every Friday. Common sense doesn’t prevail. You’re given the excuse, it does t set the right example to the team. Nonsense. Either does dictatorial leadership, how about that. 4. The slightest mistake is held against you and used as a stick to beat you with. Guess what, even the best people make them. 5. Best until last, I find this hilarious now but in truth it’s a disgrace. Upon handing in my notice and having my resignation accepted, I updated my social media to share my good news with my friends. Despite having no obligation to keep this news private, this move was taken personally and what I was then subjected to was an utter disgrace. I was asked to report to the office but not to the usual location. Upon arriving I had my fob removed, my personal belongings had been packed up in a box and told I must work my notice remotely (thought that wasn’t an option?) due to ‘a relationship breakdown’. Let me add that my resignation was respectful and demonstrated gratitude for the opportunity. They saw fit to put a person through the indignity and humiliation of not being able to even say goodbye to colleagues. Ask yourself this, do you want to work for a company who can treat someone like that? Someone who gave 100% effort to their company, whether they found the contribution sufficient or not. That’s irrelevant. My boss, the CMO, didn’t speak a word to me or respond to my emails from the point of resignation to my last day. Totally ghosted. So glad I’m out and at a company with values and a healthy culture built on respect.

Protein Works Response

Thank you for your review. Also, thank you for the time you spent with us. I know you felt differently than your latest review for the majority of your time at Protein Works and there were great experiences between the brand, the team, and yourself. However, as you are being honest in sharing your point of view with us on how your employment came to an end, it is valuable – for the sake of fairness and balance, for us to be honest too. We won’t go into all elements of the situation here but what we do want to highlight is that there are three things we value above all else in our business: our customers, our products, and our team. They are our priority. We care for them deeply, unapologetically, and without exception. Our team and our people mean everything to us. If/when there’s a valid reason for us to believe that they could be destabilised, we always act to protect them. That's why, on this occasion and taking all facts and people into account, we had to act. We wish you the very best in your future career and will watch with interest and support from the side lines. Best wishes, Protein Works

Pros

Protein Works has a really welcoming team and supportive environment. Their open-door culture means you get great exposure across different areas of the business and everyone is happy to help if you have questions or want to learn more. Their new modern office is also an additional bonus! Unfortunately I had to go back to University after my internship, but would definitely go back. I strongly recommend working at PW!

Cons

There are no cons to note.
