Pros
This was a position that I was able to enter with some experience, but not expertise in the technical logistics industry. By being trained through shadowing and working on active projects and was able to quickly learn many skills I only had in theory or was quite rusty on. I appreciated their recruiters bringing me onto the team even being a little out of practice. After working for some time, I’ve been able to get new opportunities, projects to manage, and raises based on my performance. Having worked at small and large companies in the past, the company takes a ‘small business’ merit based progression path that rewarded my individual efforts. Vacation time and sick is good, work is challenging and engaging, and there are many excellent professionals to work with.
Cons
Pay started at lower than industry standard, but I did come in with little experience. I have now corrected that. The work, especially during the end of fall and into winter can be very busy due to the logistical busy season, and can be quite stressful as the holidays approach.
