Pros
Lots of opportunity to learn and develop skills related to the Oil and Gas industry. Directors are doing a good job in diversifying the equipment we design and fabricate, which helps with job security. Job security has been far better than most Oil and Gas Engineering companies. The people that work at the 440 and 925 building are for the most part all pleasant and nice to work with. The work environment is overall very positive. Managers are very flexible and accommodating in my experience. I feel the pay is kept at industry standard levels in most cases.
Cons
No long term incentives, no RRSP matching, no profit sharing, just a two smallish bonuses that seems to be based on company and industry performance, but there is no transparency as to how bonuses are calculated. There is a lack of any real training programs for new hires, or even for existing employees. No social club or team building events anymore other then competing in Calgary Corporate Challenge.
