Pros

Good benefits make up for the mediocre pay. We're moving to a new building soon which will relieve the overcrowding. Prolacta is growing and they expect sales to go from $100M to over $300M in the next four years. They can barely manage the company at its current size. Good luck with that growth plan!

Cons

Worst manager I have ever worked for. S/he isn't supportive, creates dissention in the department and pits one employee against another. I have witnessed employees being breated publically and criticized for following standard business practices. Deadlines are set on a whim, despite what current capabilities are. This borders on a hostile work environment. They are setting up to go public so spending is all based on short term needs instead of long term planning. The company is a revolving door. Before you take a position there ask about the tenure of the people in your and other departments. From VP/C level on down they change frequently. That's not a good sign! I'm moving in a few months and look forward to the day I can tell them to "Take this job and shove it!"

Thanks for voicing your concerns. We take them seriously. Our rapid expansion, as you note, has brought with it an incredible amount of success, but also opportunities for internal growth. We welcome your suggestions. We have recently identified numerous actions to take based directly on employee input, and are proud to have put into place changes ranging from better holiday time off policies to improvements in the work environment in specific departments. Our CEO also holds candid discussions during popular monthly breakfasts with employees and has an open-door policy for all employees. As we grow as an organization, we want to continue to do our best to support the people who make saving babies’ lives possible. Feel free to share more details and suggestions at GrowWithUs@prolacta.com. Thanks again for your message, it makes us better. Prolacta, as you know, is the world’s leading hospital provider of 100% human milk-based nutritional products that are changing the standard of care for extremely premature infants. We are also now exploring the therapeutic potential of human milk across a wide spectrum of human diseases, including applications for infants requiring surgery for congenital cardiac and gastrointestinal disorders. We know that human milk - as opposed to cow milk - is the basis for saving lives, improving growth rates, and reducing hospital time for the most fragile of babies. As the only company doing this kind of work, our primary focus has been on safety, quality and improving the health of premature infants. In some ways, as you address, we have been catching up with our external success by laying some internal groundwork, belatedly.

Pros

Pay is the only benefit. They will continue to make a ton of money because of their business model.

Cons

The upper managment is all white guys. The middle is filled with almost 100% Asians. Most are fresh to the USA and act like their still in their home country. They ride you like your a stupid animal. Then use saving babies in almost cult fashion to make you take abuse from under qualified bosses. They expect you to intervene in the middle of sexual harassment endangering yourself. The training alone takes weeks of reading and work. They overly complicate the language to make up for the fact they are non native speakers. One sentence was 58 words. I had to read it 2 times. That's the normal paperwork style. If you speak clear and simple they accuse you of not knowing what your saying. My boss would cut me off mid sentence and say your wrong. I have 30 years of experience doing what I do... I took it and moved on but it kept happening. You go to HR and they say its cultural differences. You get no help anywhere.
