Pros

From the outside and 'in theory' the ProjectArt model seems great. Promoting the arts by helping the community through libraries and giving recently graduated artists a chance to have hands on skills teaching. They also seem to favor diversity in the teachers that they hire.

Cons

ProjectArt is positioned as a teaching 'residency' at the library. ProjectArt expects all teaching artists to spend time building out a curriculum for free. You're not paid for any prep time. I didn't find that the administration listened to the feedback from the teachers. Unfortunately the admin is using a poorly designed app for attendance and registration which makes more work for the teachers who need support to make sure the classes run smoothly. They promote 'perks' like studio visits with art world insiders that were pretty disappointing.

Pros

ProjectArt offers a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children. The organization provides free, high-quality art classes to children who wouldn't otherwise have access, and the impact on these kids is truly remarkable. The resident teaching artists are passionate and dedicated, and they create a supportive and encouraging environment for children to explore their creativity. Working at ProjectArt was a rewarding experience, and I learned a lot from both my colleagues and the children I worked with. If you're looking for a job where you can make a positive impact and be part of a supportive team, ProjectArt is a great place to work.

Cons

I found all good experiences here.

Pros

Exposure for artists. Able to teach techniques and art lessons that inner city youth may not otherwise have opportunities to learn.

Cons

Really, it could be a bigger program with more exposure. Partnerships may help with more exposure and funds for supplies, but not sure of the backend.
