Pros

* Great, smart coworkers * Usually working for good causes * Paid health care

Cons

* Cofounders are toxic employers. The worst managers I've ever experienced but insist on micromanaging every little detail. They do a terrible job of communicating and blame everyone but themselves for the problems that inevitably arise. * One cofounder in particular is aggressive and churlish, one of the least pleasant people I've ever met. * No work life balance, cofounders expect employees to drop everything and attend to their every whim, regardless of time or day. Politics can be like this, but no appreciation is shown for this extra effort and work completed after a series of badgering texts at 11pm on a Friday can go unreviewed for days or weeks. * Leans heavily on underpaid and overworked staff - it might be a working business model, but given their public stances I think most donors would be appalled to hear what it's like to work there. * High turnover leads to huge wastes in training and regaining lost institutional knowledge.

Pros

Best few years in national politics, before moving local. Strong team and leadership + sense of mission. Gets a surprising amount done, more than places I've worked with 5X the staff size.

Cons

Business cards arrived a couple weeks late, which is why they needed me for operations! That changed quickly.

Pros

we got things done at the P-trip. I was sad to leave when family things came up. having worked at several organizations, I was impressed in my first weeks at how P-trip operated with an outsider mentality but had so much access on the inside, which made my work easier and gave us a cred that was important for our advocacy. great team, leadership, strong vision.

Cons

I;ve read some other reviews. I hate to talk of former colleagues, but I recall taking a day off to be a concert with a then-colleague who did not take off and basically played hookie, and i see they vented in Glassdoor about people pressing for answers/responses when they were offline for hours. The virtual environment takes some degree of self-accountability and is not for everyone. in general, myself and colleagues were treated fairly, had good work-life balance, worked hard, had time to play hard, and got things done.
