They didn’t pay me the net amount we agreed upon prior to commencing the job. After they paid me my rate in gross instead of net they apologized for the misunderstanding and were rude to me on the phone asking me “how I thought I was going to pay taxes” after I specifically asked for a net amount. They ended up sending me this email as compensation for getting half of what was promised: “ Thanks for your call.
I just wanted to apologize for emailing you back to say yes all correct to net pay, when it was your gross pay.
We don't work in "net pay" so I assumed you meant your overall day rate.
I did send you a booking confirmation with this as a day rate rather than net pay and referred you to parasol who are a payroll company that deduct your NI and Tax so assumed you would have understood but I should have been more clear.
Would you like me to get our account manager from parasol to give you a call to explain the deductions?
Again, I do understand your frustrations but this is standard payroll and if we do work together again in the future I will be sure to be more clear on this for you.
Thanks”
They knew exactly what they were doing and got away with it. I am disgusted.
