Pros
Prismatic operates at an impressive pace, driven by a strong vision and mission. The software architects were exceptional—they were always willing to share knowledge, provide context, and foster collaboration. I truly enjoyed working alongside them, and they made my day-to-day work
Cons
Unfortunately, the company’s culture had some deeply troubling aspects. While everyone seemed friendly and focused on the surface, there was a consistent pattern of negativity and backbiting behind the scenes. It was disheartening to hear coworkers AND leadership speak poorly / inappropriately about others who were highly regarded, undermining the sense of trust within the team.
Leadership, particularly, was a source of frustration. Michael is undoubtedly a talented innovator and thinker, and I respect his ability to drive the company forward. However, his management style often felt cruel and demotivating. He plays clear favorites, and if you’re not in his good graces, it can feel like he’s actively working to diminish you. Some of his comments and behavior left me feeling insulted and undervalued, which made it hard to stay motivated.
Lack of Employee Incentives:
Another major issue was the lack of equity opportunities for employees who weren’t part of the founding team or executive leadership. For a startup, this was disappointing and made it harder to feel like a true stakeholder in the company’s success.
