Pros

Remote work is nice, but still very difficult to find work life balance.

Cons

No staffing, no resources to properly complete tasks. Unrealistic deadlines for projects, which force us to work an insane number of hours on a consistent basis. And being a salaried employee, you don’t get paid extra for the time. Inordinate number of meetings (for all the projects you are assigned to), and multiple avenues of contact for all the one-off requests. People can call you, chat, email - and you can’t even say no because they will just go above your head and you’ll have to do it anyway. Leadership will not honor any boundaries, especially if the person goes high enough up the chain, and yet you’re still responsible for projects and service tickets and day to day tasks. Pay is NOT competitive, and some people with much more experience are making less than people in the same role.

Pros

Great place to work. Everyone is like family

Cons

The hours can be bad depending on department. Don’t always expect to work a 9-5

Pros

Shadowing experience in a hospital setting with professional medical interpreters Training on code of ethics and complex medical Spanish Flexible schedule, pick your own shifts

Cons

Poor communication from supervisor They have high expectations for interns (driving more than an hour to visit other hospitals, being available at all hours of the day) with no pay The company benefits from you while you receive only training- no opportunities to practice real interpreting. Only 25% of the hours you sign up for are permitted to be shadowing, the rest is busywork.
