Pros

Opportunities to climb the career ladder but you pay with your mental health

Cons

Very closed culture, they favourite those who remain quiet and never ask questions. Training is a tick box exercise, they don’t actually check their staff understand the training they attend. Poor staff well-being, hundreds of posters about staff mental health, burnout and compassion fatigue yet never offer support to staff. They have a helpline to call but they have a contract with priory so take from that what you will. Incredibly toxic culture that works their employees to breaking point for financial gain If you speak up they’ll discipline you and force you to quit. For a company that claims to care about mental health they sure as hell don’t care about the mental health of their staff. After most shifts I’m exhausted not due to the patients but due to the nonsense that senior management force onto ward staff

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your experience while employed at Priory. We appreciate you raising these important points and would welcome the opportunity to explore them further with you to gain a deeper understanding. This will help us determine any appropriate next steps. In the meantime, we would like to respond to some of the key areas you highlighted: Closed Culture At Priory, we have several established colleague voice channels that enable individuals to raise concerns, many of which offer the option to do so anonymously. We would be keen to understand whether you accessed any of these channels during your time with us, and what the outcome was. This information will help us assess how effectively these systems are working and where improvements may be needed. Colleague Wellbeing We are committed to fostering a workplace environment that supports colleague health and wellbeing, both within and outside of Priory. Examples of this include offering flexible working arrangements and ensuring dedicated break times. While we acknowledge that operational needs may occasionally limit flexibility, break times should always be honoured. Additionally, we have a network of trained Mental Health First Aiders in place to support colleagues experiencing mental health challenges. The Your Say Forum also provides a platform for colleagues to put forward suggestions on improving wellbeing and any other topics they feel are important. Training We would welcome more specific details regarding your feedback on training so we can better understand your experience and offer a more tailored and meaningful response. Once again, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. Feedback such as yours is invaluable as we continue to shape and improve the colleague experience at Priory.

Pros

Met some of the hardest working and resilient staff I have ever had the ensure to work with! That's all I can think of...

Cons

Not sure where to start with this... worked at the Priory Hospital Bristol for almost two years - most definitely the worst years of my work life. This place has left me damaged not only professionally but also on a personal level. The appalling management and treatment of their employees is beyond any body's comprehension.... It is so bad that it's actually impossible to describe. You have to live it to believe it and even then you will be questioning your mind thinking am I the crazy one here or is the whole hospital mad? surprised how they're still open and running.....
