Pros
The paychecks are decent but this isn’t due to the hourly wage, it’s because of the insane number of hours you work.
Cons
FT schedule is 24/48, and expect to run the whole 24 hours you’re there. They frequently assign long distance out of town transfers very late at night to crews regardless of how many calls they’ve run already in the shift. They’re chronically short staffed for 911 calls due to multiple trucks being out of town on transfers at any given time. They also run no type of BLS service so ALS trucks that should be available for 911 calls are being sent on calls like dialysis transfers and wait-and-returns while other trucks run call after call with no break. It’s also not uncommon for a neighboring EMS agency to be requested to respond to holding calls.
