The owner (chiropractor), insisted on EVERY acupuncture treatment be electroacupuncture, for a few extra dollars in reimbursement, regardless of whether or not there was a good clinical reason for it. Of course that wasn't mentioned in the interview, only on the first (and last) day on the job. If that's not enough, as I am placing needles in the patients' lumbus, a PTA comes over with a heating pad and attempts to place the heating pad on top of the needles (just so they could bill for it, I am sure). Not only this is unethical, but also unsafe, for the patient, for the PTA and for the acupuncturist, risking infection and needle sticks. When I voiced my concerns to the owner and told him that I am not coming back his reply was "I guess you can't handle a busy clinic", as if that was the problem.
