Pros
It is what it says on the tin. A classic recruitment company with classical training and values. Training - After struggling initially with many aspects of recruitment I was able to get training from the MD and office manager on a daily basis to ensure I was brought up to speed quickly and effectively. After 2 years at the company I am still learning from these role models. The training is a bit more structured now after the implementations made by our new training and development manager. Social Life - When I first started I was single and lived a very sociable life with friends. In a relationship my work/life balance remains good with the ability to have time to my enjoy my private life as well as putting in the hours I need to achieve the earnings I want. Don't get me wrong, the hours are long, the work is hard, but the rewards are why we all get into recruitment. Earnings - It is either a slow rise to the top or instant rewards. This pretty much depends on whether you join as a permanent or contract consultant. As a contract consultant you need to grow the amount of runners before earning great money, but then it is a steady, reliable income. As a permanent consultant one big placement can change your life. During my time people have paid off student overdrafts after 2 months of employment or put a deposit down on a house from a months income. Career Development - A great company for progression if you get with the program. Don't go against management or if you don't feel that the company isn't for you, don't work hard for a 6 month stint. To make a career you need to feel at home at a company. If you feel yourself doubting the business then my advice would be to walk, don't delay the pain. If you are striving for the same goals as management then your daily role won't seem like just short term wins, you will feel like you are contributing to a longer game. Summary - A great place to work if you want to lead a certain life. Don't join Premier if you want an easy fix. This is a classic recruitment company, we don't have an office dog or wear jeans. We work hard and reap some serious benefits. Our clients work with us because our consultants care about filling roles quickly and effectively, the best way of getting those consultants is by rewarding them if they are doing well.
Cons
Some hires aren't ever going to get the lifestyle or suit this industry. It isn't that this is a con of the business it is just a fact. Everyone goes into the interview and says they are ready, the reality is you never are. This is a world away from lectures and exams. This is a world where hard work doesn't always get you £100,000 a year. Sometimes it is about you as a person and raw talent for the industry. So it is inevitable that some staff will be lost. In my time I have seen the talented but lazy be asked to leave or the hard working but not talented decide to leave of their own accord. In all honesty, everything ends badly, else it wouldn't end.
