Pros
- Full atonomy given
- Can be somewhat flexi depending on boss discretions
- work directly with boss with no layers of approval
- manage work at your own pace
Cons
1. Management can be improved:
I had a complicated pregnancy and was issued HL to do bed rest. Boss insinuating me to quit because I am not contributing to the business. Whereas as a manager, he could tank my work for awhile till I resume work or get someone else to cover. But, no. That being said, I told him i will resume work despite my HL but with WFH option.
2. No career progression:
You work alone. So, you got not much learning growth from here from other peers.
3. I was given to manage and kickstart his startup student care without informing me prior to the interview. I was given this task not relating to Posso, months after I joined the company. This could be more transparent.
4. I was let go (aka retrenched) because boss finds that paying xxx amount of salary doesn't justify with my work as he sees that childcare teacher are hustling. I find this comparison is unjustifiable to compare my digital marketing work to a teacher. FYI, i did beyond my job scope. I am also a graphic designer and website designer/manager for the company. That being said, no severance package was even being offered. But, I asked for 3 months extended notice while looking for other jobs and boss agreed.
