Pros
- Port 443 values autonomy and ability to self-learn. I was thrown into the codebase on day one with complete trust, and was able to learn so much by doing, and consequently make an impact. I was seen not as an intern but as a fully capable employee
- The problems I had the opportunity to work on were very interesting, and despite being primarily focused on refactoring old code, I was able to build new features from design to implementation, taking initiative and ownership is a huge part of company culture
- Super cool people :) Port loves and treats their interns very well :)
Cons
- I would have appreciated more explicit communication about my performance throughout my internship (especially as an intern there for the learning experience), being able to set goals and benchmark progress through supervisor reviews. It did often feel like everyone was buried in their own work, so it was hard to gauge if I was moving at the pace and in the direction the company was looking for
