Pros

You're not going to find an employer who cares more about their employees than at Pixel. The owner is super responsive to feedback, extremely fair, and really wants to build a company that makes employees happy.

Cons

It's a small business so you've got the tradeoff of better pay but less "other stuff". If you need to have the random chance to win Capitals tickets, you should probably look elsewhere. If you want to work at a company where you're not just a "resource", Pixel is the place to be.

Pros

I have had an overall positive experience while working as a Senior UX Designer supporting a dod agency. I was able to work on a couple of interesting projects that helped shape a positive digital change and took some training classes in agile and NN/g.

Cons

Most employees are on different contracts, and working remotely, so you don't get to see them often.

Pros

Small company that largely acts as a subcontractor to fill niche technical and creative roles. This means a variety of possibilities to pursue. The company has a strong personal improvement focus and may cover the cost for technical courses related to that improvement. Limited in-company interaction save for paid quarterly events, which I, personally, appreciate; it doesn't disrupt the mission, rather feels like the CEO is really trying to show their appreciation. Whatever your career goals are, Christina will try to help get you there. Timekeeping is easy, benefits are fairly competitive, and the ability to communicate to anyone in the company if an issue comes up is pretty much immediate.

Cons

As a small company doing sub work, there are some quirks. Leave can't roll over, as the budget is tight enough that it would reflect poorly on us to have excess hours paid in one year and less in another. Life insurance policy only covers the employee and can't be upgraded on company policy, so 50k for yourself only is where you're stuck, hardly enough to cover most end of life expenses, so you'll need to invest in alternate solutions, whether it's the 401k or just a healthy personal savings account. There are some monthly admin tasks, but they're lightweight, mostly just giving an activity report for the month and describing any issues you encounter.
