Pros

Since starting at student beans I've been totally blown away by the amount of care and support given to all aspects of our work & life. It's a real pleasure to work with my team, and the leadership I've been in contact with have a truly inspirational management approach of servant leadership. - We decide together what to do and what we can do with the resources we have, so that we avoid being overworked. I recognise that top down management is deeply ingrained in our society and education, and in this company real progress is made (and has been made) to move towards a servant leadership. Keep going! - A lot of resources are given towards our professional development, in terms of budget, coaching, mentoring & hands on experience. It's really a place where you can get as much out as you put in. - There is a clear progression framework that has been developed, so that promotions are much more objective, and one can work to develop the necessary skills to move up. - A lot of work has been done towards ramping up social gatherings in order to mitigate the fact we're all working remotely, and give us more opportunities to meet face to face. - There is plenty of opportunities to give feedback, and there is enough psychological safety that we can speak out about anything that might be bothering us, or suggest ideas for improvement through multitude of avenues. I feel feedback is heard and action is taken. - I feel looked after both as a worker and as a human being with a life outside of work. There is respect for people's personal commitments, time off and needs, and plenty of flexibility is given to fit work around one's life. - We have an excellent agile team that really help in harmonising our ways of working. - All the colleagues I've come in contact with so far have been helpful, friendly and positive - We are trusted to get the job done without micromanagement - I feel strongly supported to become a better engineer, both in terms of hard skills as well as soft skills. - A lot of resources has been invested into automating the grunt work of development, so we can just get on with coding, while keeping everything in great order! It's quite an impressive bit of machinery :) - It's a place where people can make mistakes, learn from them, and get better. There seems to be a no blame culture.

Pros

Great immediate team that wants to do quality work.

Cons

The level of nepotism within this company is deeply concerning and has severely eroded trust. I no longer feel there is a safe or honest environment to work in. Raising concerns is not encouraged or protected. The culture of forced positivity makes it unsafe to speak up, and employees who voice valid issues risk retaliation, including termination. I once genuinely loved my role and believed in the company, but over time the lack of consistency in leadership direction and goals has become impossible to ignore. The business operates in ways that feel unethical—misrepresenting information to clients and internally to benefit leadership financially, while the broader team is overworked, underappreciated, and burned out. This is, without question, the most dysfunctional organization I have worked for.
