      Old technology stack and no work life balance(CT team) - Software Technologist I Philips Employee Review

      Pros

      1- Good HR policies like unlimited sick leave, 2 month Paternity leave etc.

      Cons

      1- No work life balance. Last 1 year I was working around 12 hours per day even most of the times in weekend. 2- Managers are not aware how to handle the project. They keep pressuring the employees. 3- Technology stack is very old. Do not expect to learn any thing new if you are working in Install base team you will always reading the the logs to figureout the problems. 4- Bad increment(4~6%) 5-Project is unstable frequent issues are reported and new employees are facing lot of issues during rampup. 6- Very few people have complete domain knowlege.(2 people) 7- Lot of dependendncy if you need to change a single line of code. 8- Still working in clear case for repository. 9- Lot of politics. 10- You need to become developer cum tester if you joining the philips.

      Pros

      The people in non- upper management roles that work there are fantastic. Great sense of community onsite and the culture champions are consistently looking for ways to make work life better.

      Cons

      Very poor communication on the strategy for the business unit. Leadership publicly promotes innovation and new ideas to be presented but then those ideas are shot down or penalized in private by current upper management. The business unit leadership says that don't want excuses for project delays but will then decide to do 3 major layoffs in the first two quarters with no transition plan, no support for gap in resources and no expectations to delayed progress.
