Pros

The compensation is comparable to some of the larger firms in the city. The almost 2000 hour billable requirement is reasonable. The firm still attracts some bright attorneys and some of the partners are highly qualified.

Cons

It is a revolving door at nearly every level with little accountability and few opportunities for advancement. A disturbing percentage of senior associates claim to be disgruntled, and most junior associates are forced out within three years. The annual firing season, which lasts from early June through August, is widely recognized by the associates and it keeps everyone on edge much of the year - and some associates have gone from high performing (or at least bonus generating) to terminated in less than two months. Most staff and attorneys report being happier within six months of leaving, even when the departure requires a salary cut.

Pros

Actual office accommodations are nice.

Cons

No matter what level employee you are when hired, if OM states they will train you, get it in writing, print it out, keep the paper version. Never know when you will need the back-up.
