Pros
When I initially came on board, the small company feel was perfect. My market manager was perfect. Corporate was amazing. It was like a family. The fun aspects, are the fur babies. Lots and lots of fur babies.
Cons
They are slowly and systematically changing the direction of the company. Everything that made this company great, is going out the window, as they are becoming more "corporate". It's becoming a "chain store" in that sense. Corporate leaders are absolutely cliquish and leave the store managers, that aren't part of the good ol boys club, out of the loop. They are becoming grocery store mentality, sales mentality, and are forgetting why they created the family atmosphere in the first place. Silly things like opening early for Black Friday. Seriously? It's a premium brand pet food store. It's not the mall. And when comparing sales with other stores, none of us made any money, so as a company, you, yourselves, are wasting payroll on that day. I love my store, don't get me wrong. But the company direction is making me think long and hard, if this is a career with them, or merely a job. And staying open until 9pm is nuts. No one is buying pet food at 9pm. Most of the stores sales drop off by 7pm. But again, they have to compete with the grocery store and now have that "mentality". The small company feel of family, is going out the window. They are getting greedy. And it shows. And the morale is affecting customers.
