Pros
(Depends on the team you're in) - Chill work atmosphere - Hybrid work set up and flexible work hours - Respectful and friendly coleagues - You get to work independently / no micromanagement - So many books! 50% employee discount + freebies - You get to work with really good authors and expand your network - Free learning resources (like LinkedIn courses) to help you upskill - You get to work on interesting and diverse projects - Salary always on time
Cons
- Really low salaries (this is an industry-wide phenomenon though) - Promotion/growth is slow. You only get promoted every 3 years (if you're lucky) and the raise is not much while workload will increase by 2-3x - They prefer to hire outside talent and give them money instead of promoting internally and paying valuable employees properly - Everyone is overworked so you need to learn things on your own; lack of mentorship - A lot of workload in certain teams; you feel you're doing 2-3 people's jobs - Unstable, they keep restructuring and employee retention rate is quite bad - Unclear about career pathways and what an employee needs to accomplish to grow within organisation - Big gap between junior employees and executives (in terms of pay of course, but also they are very out of touch)
