Pros
As it was a very small company, there were no gossiping and drama between the employees. The very few that works there are very nice people. That’s about where all the pros end.
Cons
The owners are extremely impatient and outright rude at times. 1. The workload is absolutely crazy between only 3 designers. 2. Impatience on the owner’s part makes it even worse as we were rushed on a daily basis to finish a project. 3. Bad communication between the owners leads to us spinning in circles and wasting time to do extra work. 4. Arrogance of the owners, specifically the male owner. Refuses to listen to any input that would bring efficiency to workflow. Because he’s apparently always right. 5. Letting someone who has no experience in design make design decisions. 6. No training of any sort. My first week there, I was already being rushed and forced to speed things up, even berated. 7. Did I mention unprofessional? The owners practically demanded us to color their daughter’s school play props. Then demanded us to go to her school to paint an entire backdrop. 8. Owners are rude to vendors that work with or for the owners. Passive aggressive towards everyone. 9. Male owner refers to himself in 3rd person as “the boss”. 10. Owners are so lazy. They just pass things they don’t want to do off to the employees. i.e. they asked an employee that does shipping to handle their accounting needs. When she didn’t meet their expectations (because she’s not an accountant), they berated her. 11. No organization. Files are everywhere. I’ll end here, there are much more. But I’ve worked at companies ranging from 50 employees to 10,000. I’ve also worked for 2 owners simultaneously. Nothing compared to the mess and the level of unprofessionalism I’ve seen and experienced at Pearl World.
