Paycom was once a great place to work. The work was demanding and challenging, but the environment was positive and employees were treated fairly. I genuinely enjoyed what I did and truly believed in the company. For a long time, I never imagined leaving.
Over time, however, the culture changed so drastically that it began severely affecting both my mental and physical health. While others were being “laid off,” I ultimately chose to leave on my own because I could no longer endure the damage it was causing me.
Even now, long after leaving, I am still dealing with PTSD from my experience there. During that time, I nearly lost my marriage and found myself in some very dark places emotionally. No job is worth sacrificing your health, your relationships, or your sense of self.
After suffering a breakdown in the office, I realized I had to save myself. I stayed far longer than I should have, hoping things would improve, but eventually I reached a point where I simply could not take it anymore.
