Pros
You got to learn the payroll side if employers. It gave me more accounting, HR and general ledger knowledge. You also got to learn how payroll, deductions and per diem are calculated along with the rules of how payroll works.
Cons
There's not much room if any for advancement. I learned a lot and was given the opportunity of doing back end design, report building and other opportunities with internal products. However, toward the end of my employment things were taken away from me.
