Pros

Excellent mission and dedication to education, very nice people to work with, very open HR department that tries its best to be responsive, nice overall company culture, really good benefits, semi-flexible work environment. casual dresscode, very nice office space

Cons

Extremely weak senior management, very clique oriented; the only way to advance is to be the CEO or COO's pet, several abuses of personnel by the CEO for his personal business- he treats people like they are servants to his life instead of his company, company culture is too determined by the department you are in- no universal standard for how situations are dealt with, VERY BAD COMMUNICATION BETWEEN DEPARTMENTS AND FROM SENIOR MANAGEMENT DOWN, YEARLY LAYOFFS THAT CLEAN HOUSE,goals are created too quickly and just as quickly abandoned before being implemented, organization restructures too much so there is no consistency of vision, CEO is very weak with leadership and is more just a salesman to clients, salaries are FAR BELOW market value, people are made managers that are not qualified or suited to management and there is no training to make them more effective, too many ppl are uncertain about their future there, a lot of turnover this year.

Thank you for your review. At VIF we take pride in having a strong company culture, and when we have to make business decisions resulting in a layoff, it is hard on everyone. The CEO and COO work together to lead the organization to truly impact education outcomes worldwide and they have high expectations for staff. VIF is a fantastic place if you are up for a fast-paced, dynamic environment that requires employees to be self-starters, agile, smart, hard-working, and innovative.

Pros

Good benefits, good PTO, remote options

Cons

TLDR; Poor leadership, discrimination, micromanagers, favoritism, no diversity within the board or C-Suite. It’s just a glorified staffing agency with delusional leadership. Absolutely do not recommend working here if you are LGBTQ+; they have no DEI initiatives and it shows. There’s a lot of favoritism and nepotism and if you bring up concerns then you’ll be pushed out. The whole “we are a B Corp” thing is such a facade. There are wage discrepancies with lots of over-worked and under-paid staff. The C-Suite repeatedly says that Participate Learning should be non-partisan. However, they will bend backwards to appease ultra conservatives and will never stand up for their values. They also spent a bunch of money for an all staff retreat to go to Orlando Florida in 2024 and then told the company not to post about it on social media or let anyone know. Take that as you will. I wish you all the best on your job search and if you’re reading this then I know that you deserve better than Participate Learning.
