Pros
The work life balance at most networks (minus nickelodeon) is fair. Upper management is flexible with vacation time, time off, sick time etc and they are understanding of your personal life. The environment is extremely laid back except for the obvious like sales and exec's. They are more business casual/suit and tie type. The environment is also thriving with creativity. Before the failed economy, MTVN has a lot of fun perks, parties etc. But have cut back in the recent years. (which is still a positive) Lastly, for the most part, the people are friendly and great to work with.
Cons
Growth potential/promotions/advancement opps within your dept/network or other networks is staggering. For the most part movement is slim to none. If you are one that moves up and rather quickly, its prob more based on politics than credentials. Employees become a bit robotic and stagnant and remain in the same role year after year. At times upper management and HR have blinders on to their employees wants and needs. A lot of times they are oblivious even if things are clearly pointed out to them. Other times they act oblivious to avoid situations. Basically, pushing it under the rug makes it go away. Compensation is lower than average. Annual raises are only within the merit system based on company reviews. If you want an actual on the books pay increase, you have to move to a different or higher title.
