Good job but several leadership issues - Armed Guard Paragon Systems, Inc. Employee Review

Pros

This is for the Federal Protective Service (FPS) contract. Despite one comment, as far as pay and opportunity are concerned this position is very good. That includes people right out of the military and anyone with prior law enforcement experience, even retired personnel. The pay is very good. The hours are very good. In general, they are standard business hours Mon-Fri at federal facilities. No weekends, no 12-hour shifts, and no nights. Holidays off. The training course was somewhat satisfactory, but it was 3-weeks straight of rushed training at a reduced pay rate and no per diem. That resulted in costly out-of-pocket expenses, but fortunately I could live with it based on my pension. Not sure how others did it. Uniforms, equipment and firearms are provided. Although there are problems with the uniforms and equipment. Not sure why, because it is an easy fix. There were problems with the paperwork for in-processing. Not sure why?

Cons

There does not appear to be in basic leadership or management within the organization. I do not understand why there are so many problems with simple post scheduling. It appears to be a problem on the east coast as well on the west coast. A 5-day schedule should not change 5 to 8 times a week. That makes it hard to plan for time off after work and during the week. A bit frustrating as well. Another big issue was pushing employees through the 3-week Paragon training course before they are adjudicated by FPS. This means some employees almost finish the training but might wait months to be picked up and finish the final test and training. In the interim they go and find other jobs.
