Pros
I'll try to just write a few: 1. Everyone at Parabol deeply cares about the humans that work here. I've never worked at a company with this level of trust before. 2. I suspect that most successful tech companies will look more like Parabol in the next ~10 years: highly transparent, value trust, fully remote with retreats, minimal meetings, empowering employees to make company wide changes, etc. These things don’t just make us happier but make business sense - I would bet money that the average tenure at Parabol will drastically exceed the industry average. Everyone is learning a valuable skill by being here and “living in the future.” 3. The company is doing well and we have high standards. A concern that I had in my pre-remote days was that remote work is great for lifestyle but not so good for career progression. I’m delighted that I’m learning more now than I was in an office and the company trajectory is very promising. 4. It’s an exciting time to join. Everyone at Parabol right now will hopefully get to see a tiny start-up grow into at least a medium sized one which should be an interesting and valuable experience.
Cons
Remote work is an overwhelming pro for me but it's not for everyone. Also, employees based in Eastern Europe or Asia might have to attend late meetings (although we have very few regular meetings).
