Pros
-45% discount. -Beautiful environment. -Cute products. -Opportunities to get creative and decorate the store. -Occasional classy customers. -Simple daily tasks.
Cons
-Minimum wage (regardless of your experience or seniority) -A lot of pressure from head office to achieve ridiculous daily goals for our poorly chosen neighborhood (accentuate on the ''hood''). -Explaining to people who can't afford 16$ greeting cards why our 1$ card stock is gone while trying to convince them that shelling out for our beautiful cards is an investment. -Specific items getting stolen (costume jewelry); pressure to look at every customer touching them as a potential thief. -Moody manager; your day will go according to his mood. If management feels like openly criticizing you in front of customers, they will. -Having to engage with a hostile customer even if he's moody or else, you'll get criticized from management. -Head office holding useless contests for 10$ gift cards for whoever sells the most chosen products. -Hours depend on your ''availability'', they disregard students academic responsibilities and ambitions to go farther than selling cards for a living. -Payroll is mainly taken over by manager's pay... -30 min unpaid break. -No benefits... -Doing WAY more than what we're paid to do, time wise, task wise.
