Pros

Freedom, lounge, kitchen, work out room.

Cons

The turnover rate for a company with 40 employees is astounding-about 2-3 people each month. It’s sink or swim with almost no training. There is no one to assist or ensure the engineers complete their work in a timely fashion and they are overworked. No accountability for completion of work. Company-wide raises have not been given in years. PaperWise is so specialized and customized for the customer that nobody can accurately estimate how long a project will take and completion dates are over promised to customers. Ideas were given to management and dismissed without consideration or forgotten. The owner needs to step back into a management role and re-evaluate who is contributing or withholding info for their own benefit. Upper management isn’t open minded enough to have meaningful conversations for business development with their teams which is a shame because it could be a great place to work.

Pros

Everyone is really nice and welcoming. The work is interesting and keeps you guessing.

Cons

Agile but not agile. Structure for prioritization of tasks. Using tech stack that is not getting any more updates.

Pros

- Long running professional relationships with the team - Nice break room - Personal Trainer - Thorough QA team - Fun for the first few months

Cons

- Horrible and useless health benefits - Uncompetitive pay scale - Raises uncommon at best - Promotions almost non existent - Extremely disorganized and difficult to please upper management - Owner tended to play favorites with his "in crowd" managers, even when they were inept at their jobs - Ridiculously high turnover. The entire engineering department turned over in less than 2 years - No formal training opportunities - Married to the Microsoft tech stack, zero consideration for any tools not built by Microsoft directly - Zero major releases and only 2 minor releases during my 2+ years. It's a software company. This is completely unacceptable - Once anyone shows even the least bit of initiative the management gets paranoid about losing their jobs and make life miserable for their teams
