Pros

I'm very passionate about live orchestral music and keeping arts and culture vibrant in our community. I've had a great experience with John Forsyte and the entire Pacific Symphony management team so far, who are wonderful to work with and also passionate about the category. The board, conductor, musicians, artistic team have all been so welcoming and a pleasure to work with! I'm also proud of the work we've done in the community with the Education & Community Engagement team, helping children learn to play musical instruments through the leadership and guidance of talented Pacific Symphony musicians.

Cons

It's not a con, but the non-profit world is just different than the for-profit world. But it's a great place for an entrepreneurial, innovative person who wants to contribute in a positive way.

Pros

Being around music, and SOME of the people. Also, it will make you a better leader in the future because you will learn what does NOT motivate employees by experiencing it first hand.

Cons

All the top leadership has been in their positions 20+ years and as the company grew, they did not. It's a tier one orchestra with a tier 4 administration. And they are so passive agressive to each other, and they throw the rest of the staff into the middle of their ridiculous infighting, all while paying THEMSELVES very well (their salaries are public- look them up). There is no HR, no onboarding, no discipline for the several employees who do a terrible job and refuse to leave. Working there is like being in an abusive relationship; I'm still shocked when people treat me well at work. Overworked, underpaid, total burn out.
