Pros

Should have been the clear leader in IoT by now. Had acquired the top 2 IoT platforms in the market (ThingWorx and Axeda), had a multi-year head start on the competition, and were in position to dominate the space.

Cons

Bungled the execution of IoT acquisitions. Lost most of the acquired IoT DNA through turnover and layoffs. Now left with former CAD and PLM staff trying to pick up the pieces. Meanwhile the market (google, amazon, salesforce, microsoft, oracle) have all introduced IoT specific offerings. No alliances with those true platform and cloud companies means they are competitors and will eat PTC's IoT lunch.

Business outlook

Pros

Great people, customers, products. The culture has improved significantly over the past 5 years or so, and now feels like a relatively modern software company. Exec leadership is very good, Neil is fantastic.

Cons

Mid-level exec leaders, VP level, are still very political. Salaries are way below average.
