Pros
PACCAR has not posted in the red for nearly 75 years. For better or worse, this should tell you a enough on the corporate lifestyle of being an employee here. Within the manufacturing facilities, the engineers and support staff are great to work and you are never too far away from the plant manager if you need to be heard. Depending on your team, hours can range from 40 per week to what seems like well over 60-70 with some weekend work. The weekend work is specific to the Manufacturing Engineering and Controls Engineering groups. Software engineers at the manufacturing facilities can expect 40-50 hours per week. Benefits are wonderful; medical, dental, 401k, education reimbursement, etc. You are encouraged to try new things and creative expression is always welcome. It seems like a small "big" company; facility groups are tight-nit but in a company with 20,000+ employees it still seems like you have good opportunities for contact with other facilities. Promotion to management is often done from within, so internal advancement is a distinct possibility.
Cons
Senior management can be a little hard-headed. Corporate is very militaristic. There is a some communication breakdown between production and the support staff at times.
