Pros

This place only works for people who don’t want to be challenged or innovative or you’re very desperate. There are very few genuinely nice people in leadership positions.

Cons

-Very low industry standard benefits. The employee stock package is a scheme to make the old men richer. Maternity leave is poor. 401k match is extremely low. 9/80 schedule does not work unless you’re at the early start of your career and have no responsibilities on projects. -They do not have any DEI initiatives present within the work culture. Having a statement on the website is a joke. Do not work here if you truly care about diversity, equity and inclusion. Osborn does not empower the younger generation or have a work place culture for minorities. - This is a company with very low standards in the AEC industry. - They claim to be “family-oriented” but they only promote a “cult-like” culture. — Upper management is probably 10 years behind compared to their peers in similar companies and directionless.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. While we value constructive input, it’s important to clarify some inaccuracies in your statements. At Osborn Engineering, we are committed to transparency, fairness, and fostering a positive workplace culture. We have also been made aware that several employees have raised concerns about misinformation in this review. We suspect this may come from a competitor or a former employee now working for a competitor. Below, we address the points raised: DEIB Initiatives: Osborn is committed to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) initiatives which goes far beyond a statement on our website. We actively support employee resource groups, provide quarterly DEIB education, and facilitate discussions to foster inclusivity. Our intranet serves as a platform for employees to share and post information supporting diversity initiatives. Employee Stock Program: Our employee stock ownership program is open to all eligible employees who have been with the company for 1-3 years, ensuring equal access and opportunity for wealth-building across the organization. Maternity Leave: Our maternity leave benefits exceed industry standards, and we provide additional flexibility for new parents, including options for extended leave and a gradual return to work. We are proud to have supported numerous employees through these life transitions. 401(k) Match: Our 401(k)-match program is in addition to our stock bonus program, which offers bonus shares for shares purchased. We continuously evaluate our benefits to ensure they meet the needs of our employees and are always working to improve them. 9/80 Schedule: The 9/80 schedule is a voluntary option designed to offer work-life balance. Many employees, at different career stages, find this schedule beneficial. It’s one of several flexible work arrangements we offer. Workplace Culture: Osborn has been recognized for cultivating a family-oriented environment. We aim to empower employees of all generations and backgrounds through mentorship, professional development, and inclusion initiatives. While we acknowledge that no workplace is perfect, labeling our culture as "cult-like" is inaccurate and unreflective of our supportive, collaborative environment. Leadership & Direction: Our leadership team is forward-thinking and continuously strives to stay competitive and innovative in the AEC industry. Initiatives are regularly evaluated and updated to align with industry trends and employee feedback. If any current or former employees, or potential candidates, have questions or concerns about our policies or programs, we encourage them to reach out directly to our HR team at HR@osborn-eng.com. We are committed to addressing concerns promptly and factually. We remain focused on fostering a positive workplace for all employees and appreciate your understanding as we work to correct misinformation.

Pros

PTO 9/80 schedule Nice office Friendly staff for the most part

Cons

If you work downtown you have to pay for parking, with cost of living rising, this extra deduction matters and isn’t great. Upper management can be condescending. Micromanagement. Can have dehumanizing ways of disciplinary actions. Not very diverse in terms of people. Burn out. Underpaid for the amount of work. Development opportunities aren’t taken serious and often forgot about.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We understand that parking costs in a downtown environment can be frustrating, especially with rising living expenses. Like many businesses located in major downtown areas, paid parking is a common challenge. While we are unable to fully eliminate those costs, we do offer pre-tax Flexible Spending Account (FSA) options that can help reduce the financial impact, and we continually work to negotiate improved parking rates and options with nearby garages for our employees. We are also sorry to hear that your experience with leadership, communication, and development opportunities did not meet expectations. At Osborn, we believe professional growth and career path discussions are important and should be ongoing conversations between employees and their supervisors — not limited to formal review periods alone. In addition to regular check-ins, we conduct formal performance discussions at minimum twice per year to help support feedback, development, and goal setting. We recognize that employee experiences can vary, and we are continuously working to strengthen our culture, leadership development, employee engagement, and overall workplace experience. We encourage employees to reach out to Human Resources at any time with questions, concerns, requests for support in discussions with supervisors, or recommendations related to benefits, parking options, and workplace improvements. Constructive feedback helps us continue to grow and improve as an organization. Please feel free to stop by the HR department to discuss your issues further.
