Pros

I have mostly enjoyed my time at Opendoor. It can definitely get a little hectic at times but what job doesn't when you are defining and changing an industry. The thing that I appreciate is that if you want to grow and learn more about another org, team, business function, etc - everyone at Opendoor is more than happy to talk you through their role and what they are doing for Opendoor and the larger business objective. I think the team is incredibly talented and we have a really high hiring bar so you are surrounded by people who are motivated by our mission, talented, and who will work hard to get there.

Cons

Good things don't come easy, so sometimes it takes a bit extra from team members and teams to get a deliverable done so if you are looking for a place to coast in your career, thats probably not here at Opendoor. But if you are motivated to change an industry and have a lot of ownership while doing so, then I would recommend Opendoor.

Pros

Recently joined - Kaz is fantastic. There's been basically no blockers to us shipping. Very long hours but you can feel the impact in the work you're doing

Cons

Not much right now. Things are a little chaotic but that's what I signed up for. EPD leadership is maybe a little lacking

Pros

Meaningful problems to solve. Stock upside with right macro. Aggressive AI usage

Cons

996 / hustle culture amongst newer folks. Love having motivated teammates but the comp is B-tier at best (unless you’re the CEO, at 4371x the avg employee) New product folks are a mixed bag. Some work really hard and are super sharp. Some talk about working hard and take credit for product work from others. SF office dying through firing and resignations - expect to be asked to visit Miami and Toronto frequently. Tenured employees seem to be assumed to be low performers
